Matilda Xavier is a practicing clinician and works with people from diverse backgrounds and ethnicity. She is an adjunct lecturer with Help University and has lectured for both undergraduate psychology and master level clinical psychology courses. She is also a clinical supervisor for master level clinical psychology trainees, undergraduate counselling trainees, master level counseling trainees and professional counselors and psychologists.
Since 1983 till the present, she has been an English Language Teaching editor and writer for a number of publishing houses in Malaysia. She has written a large number of English language teaching books for both primary and secondary school students. In addition, she has written several series of children’s storybooks. She has also been a para-counselor for a pastoral counseling centre in a church for ten years. From 2005 till 2007 she was a volunteer psychosocial assistant with Medicins San Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders) and worked with refugees suffering from various psychological problems.
