Dr Yap Chung Mui studied Medicine under a University Scholarship in the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, and graduated with a degree in MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery).

Dr Yap had his training as a registrar in plastic surgery in the General Hospital, Bangour, Scotland.

Dr Yap later practised as a surgeon in the Department of Plastic Surgery, Wordsley Hospital, Birmingham, England, and in the Department of Plastic Surgery, Castle Hill Hospital, Hull, England.

Dr Yap is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

The surgical areas of interest of Dr Yap are facial surgery and liposculpture surgery.

Dr Yap is an amicable person and is proficient in English. He is proficient in conversational communication in Mandarin and Cantonese.

1. Resurfacing penile skin defect with bilateral dartos musculocutaneous flaps.
2. Repair of Thoracic Oesophageal Perforation with Latissimus Dorsi Flap.
3. Use of Combined Contralateral Deltopectoral Skin Flap and Ipsilateral Island Latissimus Dorsi Myocutaneous Flap for Massive Cervico-Thoracic Oesophageal Defect Repair
