The popular latest variant of the Honda Accord is due for a facelift and is scheduled to arrive into Malaysia in the 2nd quarter of 2016. Seeing the obsession amongst Malaysia about their cars, it’s not surprising that major car makers introduce facelift to keep up with the competition.
Malaysian do like their cars, and each facelift covers minor changes in here and there, whether it’s the headlight, the lips or the nose grill. Even though the changes is minimal, Malaysians don’t seems mind to pay for the extra as they are getting a better looking and aesthetic pleasing vehicle for ride to work, back to kampong or to run city errands.

Since our rides needs a facelift, perhaps it’s time to consider whether we need a facelift from time to time. Most of us want to look good and feel great at the same time. It is part of our physiological needs to have everything perfect. Unfortunately, most of us are subject to the biological clock of aging. It is a process which nobody can avoid, and the first sign of aging is etched all over our face. Whether they are fine lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet or sagging, these are the inevitable signs of degradation on our face. The worse is, it’s for all to see and whether you like it or not, there will bound to be unflattering comments from friends and family.
Depending on individual, these symptoms of aging can rear its ugly head in the form of crow’s feet, As the name implies, crow’s feet typically looks like feet of a crow forming usually around the corner of the eyes and especially so since dermal fibrous is shallow in that area. Combine with the lack of natural oil secretion around the eye, it is an area which is not properly moisturized, which resulted in the formation of wrinkle which we termed as crow’s feet.
Other areas where facelift is worth considering includes the laughing line or in medical term nasolabial folds, a line often visible as we caught up with age. This line often became more apparent when we laugh or smile, which can be a real damper on appearance, as we look our best while smiling but in this case, we also look older! Nasolabial lines become deeper due to a combination of factors including degradation of facial muscle around the nasalis area especially the transverse and alar part. In certain cases, our changing facial landscape could possibly aggravate the compression on nasolabial fold making it deeper by the day.

Sagging is more apparent from age 35 onwards, due age and our body inability to regenerate the collagen count necessary to replenish the constant damage our body is subject to from the environment. Of course, the gravity didn’t help, but sagging can be typically described as loss elasticity in our face. The loss of collagen and the weakening of elastin that hold our muscle together contribute to sagging. Another sign of sagging skin is actually the appearance of a double chin, where a layer of subcutaneous fat formed underneath the chin due to loss of skin laxity. While we can cover up our facial imperfection such as lines and wrinkles with a touch of make-up, but sagging will be difficult to camouflage.

They say the lines on our forehead can tell about our fate, this is from the astrologer, but having those means we are getting older by year. The joke is for every birthday we celebrate, there is a new line on our forehead, this doesn’t sound like music but without proper care, the horizontal line will get deeper and more pronounce. While most guys don't mind forehead line, as it actually projects a certain maturity and wisdom, but girls tend to avoid at all cost! In certain cases, the formation of lines is unavoidable, as our forehead muscles actively support our facial expression, perhaps one should take care of their skin and avoid being perpetually emotional at the same time.
A close relative to the forehead line will most definitely be the frown lines. It is often formed when we…frown. While aging, sun damage, cellular dehydration contribute to the formation of frown lines, the primary factor is often our facial expression when we frown once too often. The best advice is to reduce frowning or better yet avoid it, but often it’s easier said than done due to it being habitual.

Last but not least, the telltale sign of getting old is the appearance of a sunken cheek. Sunken cheek is commonly observed in cases of weight loss and hollowness inside the cheek. The lack of fibre tissue in the cheek area resulted in sunken cheek and often project the appearance of looking rather malnourish. It can send the wrong signal that one appears weak and sickly when you are in fact not.
As it is, there is no limit in aesthetic facelift, and as the saying goes ‘Different face tells a different story’, our face, how it looks and how it communicate to others and touch other people’s lives, goes to show that it is worth to put on a pleasant looking face and not otherwise. There will be those who swear by natural beauty, that aesthetic is pure vain and inane, it is the inside that’s important, I for one would not hesitate to go for aesthetic treatment if it means that I can stand beside my new car and look much better than my recently facelifted Honda.
