Orthopaedics of the Hip and Spine

Dr. ONG is the Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon at KLSMC specializing in hip and spine injuries, and has been in practice for over 20 years. He graduated from the National University of Ireland in 1985 with honours in surgery, anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and pharmacy. From 1986 to 1990, he did his internship in Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Orthopaedic & General Surgical training in University Hospital, Kuala Lumpur.

In 1990, he obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and then trained in General Orthopaedics in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Scotland, followed by formal postgraduate Orthopaedic training in Wales and England. He then went for sub-specialized training in Adult Spinal Surgery as well as Joint Replacement Surgery at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry, England.

Dr. ONG returned to Malaysia in 1994 to become Clinical Orthopaedic Specialist at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang after which he joined the private practice. His present interests are Orthopaedic trauma, joint replacement and adult degenerative spinal disorders.
