Signs and Symptoms of Anxiety Disorders

The signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders may differ from person to person. Also, different types of anxiety disorders have different signs and symptoms. Below are some common/general signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders.

  • Often feel nervous, anxious, and/or powerless with no apparent reason

  • Consistent and excessive fear or worry of coming events

  • Consistently sense that something bad is going to happen

  • Heavy and rapid breathing

  • Increased heart rate

  • Trembling or shaking

  • Weakness, tiredness, fatigue

  • Consistently fail to concentrate or focus on current tasks

  • Headaches

These signs and symptoms can be quite similar to that of some other psychological disorders, such as the OCD (oppressive-compulsive disorder). Complications of Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety disorders can lead to various complications, such as increasing the risk of other psychological disorders. In fact, anxiety disorders and depression are related and often come together. In general, anxiety disorders can interfere with or disrupt daily activities and lower the quality of life. Anxiety disorders in children especially, can lead to serious negative life issues if untreated.
